Finding old friends

So I just joined Facebook and have found some old friends. I wish I would have never lost contact with them. Chalk it up to bad choices while in a horrible relationship. It's water under the bridge now, so I hope I can reconnect with my old pals. Now that I'm in a wonderfully happy marriage, I won't be making those dumb choices! :)

Wedding decoration photos

Apparently my mom didn't take any pictures of the stairway decorations we put up, but here are some of the other decorations I did for my cousin's wedding. I put the roses and greenery on the cake, and helped with the center pieces and wedding favors.

Call me the Wedding Coordinator

This weekend I went to my cousin's wedding. She is the oldest of us, 37 cousins. My sister was a bride's maid, so my family went down on Friday.

Friday afternoon my mom and I worked on decorating the stairway leading up to the hall. We used white tulle and white Christmas lights. These were draped over the railing in many small swags, like a scarf valence. If my mom took pictures, I'll upload some. We did that until we had to leave for the rehearsal dinner. We got back to the hotel around 11pm where we crashed.

Saturday morning, I helped my aunt decorate inside the reception hall until we had to leave to get to the church. I am not much of a flower person, but I was arranging red roses in mirror vases. I also helped put all of the party favors on the tables, and put greenery and roses on the cake. I know I'll have a picture of the cake to upload.

At the church I helped decorate and set up, while the girls all got ready. Then I helped line up the bridal party and send them down the isle. After the wedding I helped take down all of the decorations.

The wedding and reception were both beautiful. My cousin's nieces(8 and 9) were junior bride's maids and they were so adorable. At the reception there was a lot of Irish music, because the bride and groom are both part Irish. The 8 year old was performing Irish dancing perfectly to the music. She was awesome!

After the reception I helped take down all of the decorations.

Yesterday, I drove my cousin's car (filled with their gifts) to her new house. It is beautiful. It is on a hill in out in the country, and you can see a long way. It is perfect!

This weekend I didn't get much sleep, but got to see a lot of people. :)

Boycot off

I have found that if I go to Danatos on Thursdays instead of Fridays, the service is much better. Fridays are the worst days to go get pizza, because everyone else is going at the same time.

Fixing up the house is a slow process...

but it is getting done one item at a time. We got a new roof. I still need to take a picture.

Also, I have finally taken down all of the wallpaper in the bathroom. It is half painted and has a new mirror and towel stand. I still need to finish painting and put up the hand towel rack/shelf behind the toilet. I swear it will be done by the time Panda comes in August. It may not be done until the weekend before, but it will be done! :)

We will need to save up some more before we do anymore remodelling. The next two major tasks will be the master bathroom and the kitchen. We will probably gut both (at different times, probably different years) and have professionals remodel them. One thing I have found out is that I really don't like (nor am I good at) painting. :( That means I'll have to save more money to pay the professionals for the labor. Oh well! As long as it is done correctly and quickly...

I guess that's all I have to say for now. That's why I never post, I never have any news. :(

The Boycott is back on...

Okay, so we wanted Danatos again. We thought that we'd try the Pickerington location, since we've had such bad luck with the Canal Winchester one. It was worse, if that's possible.

So we go to pick-up our pizza (they don't deliver to our side of the tracks) and find that they didn't plan very well for there pick-up window. The natural place for cars to line up would be on the street, but since that blocks traffic they rent a cop to direct the pick-up traffic.

I didn't know about the line that forms throughout the parking lot, so I pulled into the pick-up line. Soon I heard a tapping on my window and there is a cop. I got the same sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that I felt when I was pulled over at age 16. I am terrified by cops when I'm in the car. He said, "You just cut in front of a lot of people. Go to the end of the line." Where the hell is that (I didn't use that language). He directed me to the 3rd row of parking spaces from the street. Apparently, we were in line for a ride at an amusement park. At least, that's how it felt. Parked cars were acting as the dividers between sections of the line. I was totally bewilder. Who the &#$% designed this place? Apparently they had no idea how incompetent the employees would be. The kids at the pick-up window were talking and goofing around, so it takes at least 10min for each car to get their food. About 10 cars later we finally got our pizza, but by that time I was livid. I am never picking up a pizza from Danatos ever again. GGGGGGGGGGGRrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Not much to update.

There hasn't really been much going on in my life. Work, eat, sleep, cook, wash clothes, buy food, etc. One thing that is new is that I joined Weight-Watchers at Work. I have lost 6lbs in 4 weeks, and have 6 weeks to go. That's it, nothing else to report. :)

Boycotting Donatos

I'm boycotting Donato's pizza. Well, at least the one in Canal Winchester.
Friday night we wanted pizza, so as usual we ordered it on the way home from work. It should have been a sign when Troy accidentally dialed Domino's, when trying to reach Donato's. We should have stuck with our usual Domino's.
We ordered our pizza and they said it would be 15-20min. Okay, no problem. On our way home we went to get the pizza. We got to the carryout window 20 min. after we order. It should be ready right? NOPE! They had a problem with orders printing and didn't make our pizza. We paid and got a free 2 liter. They told us to pull around to the side and wait 5 min. After 20min. (40 min. total) I was tired of waiting. I went inside to find out where the heck our pizza was. The cashier said, "They don't know which pizza belongs to who. I'll bring yours out as soon as they find it." So I go wait 20 more minutes. Now I'm livid... I go back inside (60 min. after ordering) to bitch at someone, but I didn't need to. Another guy had waited 50 min. for his 2 pizzas and was pitching a fit. Out comes the girl with my pizza... FINALLY!!! They were so unorganized/unprepared. I don't think I'll ever go back there again.

Much Needed Vacation

Over Christmas break we took a much needed 10 day vacation to Florida. It was wonderful!!!!
Last Spring Troy went the farthest west he'd ever been when we went to Arizona. Now Florida made the list as the farthest south he's been. My parents and I are really pushing his limits. But he loves it!! :) Both vacations were spent with my family. Hey! It's much cheaper when they are paying our room and board. This year we didn't even have to pay for the flight back or the gas on the way down.
We drove my mom's convertible down to them. I do not recommend long distance travel in a small car. We have already decided to get a V6 sedan for our next car, so we can travel more comfortably.
While in Florida I got to spend a lot of time with my mom and sister. Troy and dad vegged out in there own separate rooms when it was just the gals. Believe me! They needed the alone time.
Some days were chock full of outings. Other days we just hung out on the beach or by the pool.
Troy got to see Alligators in their natural habitat. He had only seen them in zoos, before our trip to Mayaka State Park. Troy saw a gator in the ditch as we approached the park. No one else saw it, so it could be a lie. We also saw a wild hog and a few deer in the park.
On our last day in FL, we went to the Bradenton Museum and Aquatic Center to see rescued manatees. They have one that is a permanent resident, because he is was the first manatee born in captivity. He is almost 60!!! The others are there only to recover from injuries.
The flight back on Skybus was interesting. Actually, the flight was fine. It was the wait that was interesting. The flight was 1.5 hours late and the airport was tiny. There were no other planes there. I found it quite funny when people started lining up to board the plane, when there was clearly no plane anywhere in sight. We got to celebrate New Years on a flight home and got home 10min. till 2am.

The trip was great, but too short as usual. Troy really liked retirement life, but he'll have to wait 20 more years at least! :)
